I am trying to decide on whether to :
1) Race my current MX5 to the specs in my signature + slicks
and keep as a daily driver as well
or
2) To import a cheap naturally aspirated NB as a designated race car and
race that.
I am wanting to compete in as many events as possible including CAMS
events here and interstate.
The things swaying my decision are:
- is a turbo'd MX competitive in the 2A cams class or does that class
allow monster cars ??
- what other circut racing events/classes can I drive a turboed MX5 in ??
I am thinking a naturally aspirated MX may open the
door to more events and a more competitive car in that particular class ??
I know this is all a jarbled mess but I hope you get what I mean
any advise greatly appreciated.

haven't had any experience except track days...I have only done these on cheese cutter tyres and without any of the mods in my sig except the turbo
will know more realistic times after the 10th of Aug my times weren't that great allthough I was 2nd fastest MX5 first time out...

yeah it depends on if you want to race in dutton/targa taz type stuff as well as race.
from what i have seen in race car prep for mx5 mania cars you couldn't race them in anything that requires road rego (well in race trim no).
i do think you would have a fun time racing your car as a weekend warrior type car , you may not be up the front but you will get time on the track and you will be able to decide if you want to go that extra mile to be up the front.
i recon get ya race licence , go in a few races and see what ya think , then decide.
in qld the improved production series allows turbos , but you will have to get a weight penalty but not as much as a 1.8 since its only 1.6.
