Mnt glorious/Mnt nebo roads (brisbane qld)

just outside brisbane Mnt nebo rises clean out of the suburbs with a loverly road that has every type of corner you can think of , with it blending into Mnt glorious road (there is a turn at the top for a very spirited steep decent at the halfway point) that is more of the same(if not better) in all about 20km of the best driving road you can hope for with a bit of scenery of the rainforest and down to the dam (rather dry at the moment) , if you turn left at the dam you end up in ferndale that leads out to the towomba highway , or if you turn right at the dam you end up going along the whole length of the glasshouse mountains but only at their flat bases but a good way to go north along a diffrent route.

there is a nice little tea house at the top of glorious that you will probably see surrounded by bikes or the local car club , i encourage you to go in , the owner is a old biker that cooks up a mean set of scones .

mmm nebo... that mountain has been growing on me alot lately.
Its always fun heading up there and harrassing the motorbikes and hot hatches

About half way through just before ya hit Mt Glorious you can take a right that leads you into Samford... from Samford head north up to Mt Mee, then from the north side of Mt Mee turn left and head towards Maleny... pull out your rededex and look for Belthorpe Range Road and get set for the drive of your life... and while your up that way dont forget Peachester road... and all the other roads that are up that way

yeah lots of places in and around brissy , and most of em are unspoilt by high traffic and speed bumps . used to do the Mnt cothar (another awsome inner city drive not sure if i spelt it right though) loop on the way into brissy every time in and out and if i had time would go the long way round to Mnt glorious/nebo to get into the city

Nebo is good in terms of length, but i still prefer Mt. Mee for pure driving pleasure...

Rolling green farms and views to the Glasshouse Mts... I can feel the wind in my hair already!

Biggest problem with Nebo is the new surface they put down on the wivenhoe descent... I've picked up that many stone chips it isnt funny! :(

Also, Mt Mee seems to have a little less traffic than Nebo...

pfft... whoz looking at the views :P

for pure driving pleasure with very minimal traffic ya cant go past Mt Lindsey Hwy, the section just north and south of the border... pure bliss!!!

Just make sure ya watch out for the cows

but as with every road it does have its downside... its in the middle of bloody nowhere!!

Mt Lindsay Highway is indeed a nice piece of road...

In terms of looking at the views, i find my MX5 is most pleasureable when its rolling through the hills at 4.00pm on a summer afternoon...

Going fast is exciting and fun, but i find that it doesnt relax me as much as the leisurely country drive... Different horses for courses i guess...

I do a nice loop on the bike up that way, there are some many combinations all the way north. But for a nice morning run. Obi Obi is so nice it has just been resurfaced (i think may this year?) and its one way, up hill, on bitumen, west to east (east to west is dirt)

Then turn right and go to maleny for lunch, or left for the quick way to brissy.

The last thing that you would expect on the one-way section of Obi Obi is oncoming traffic. This happened to several competitors during the Coastal Challenge when they were having a nice run and had to stop for the bus that was coming down the hill.

The thing I love about this road is that you can have heaps of fun and still stay under the speed limit! 8)

Went for a night drive yesterday and drove through some thick, low-lying clouds; ie. like heavy fog.
Scary, as visibility was less 20metres :|
I've never wanted fog lights.... up until that night.

I've done Mt Nebo Road from The Gap to Jolly's Lookout a few times now. Such a great MX5 road! Does anybody else like the drive down better than the drive up?

Yep, the drive down is better. You arrive at The Gap all too soon. That's why we all drive up there though, so that we can drive back down again
Pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever.
