Does anybody have a estimate of how long it takes to pull the motor & gearbox out of a NA8? :|

Andrew.

We can find out on Saturday :D

Did it have PS & AC? Mine does and I would have to unbolt and move them out of the way also without disconnecting the hoses.

UA, Do you have a tool for pressing the crank seal in yet? I can knock one up here at work today if you don't. :?:

The actual work area is concreted and fully covered (by a house), so we will be dry

sure did, had both of em, and i did it without disconnecting the extractors from the cat so that was another obstacle to work around.

I'll keep the power steering if you like. All this talk of manual vs power has got me interested. It'll be less for you to put back on.

And the work area conveniently doubles as a beer drinking area

Big thanks to all who came and attended/assisted/partookof beer and BBQ.....

All things look as though the waterpump and timing belts have been replaced successfully. There was a moment when the lifters were waaaay noisy upon startup, but they've settled down and the top hose was leaking a little but hopefully some formagasket has fixed that up nicely.

The waterpump doesn't leak now (it appears), but a good thrash will tell.

And best of all, we got to drink Heineken from the keg :D

Actually, I'm thinking it was a day to rival Vic Dodgy Days - not just because we got done:

1 timing belt replacement and timing readjust
1 oil & filter change
1 water pump and coolant change
1 SE windblocker fitment
1 NB windblocker fitment
1 clutch slave cylinder resleeve and refit
1 Clubman 14 deg timing bump

But we also completed 1 5L Heineken Draught Keg

and it was sunny and warm almost all day..... :D
