el Cheapo Ebay Racing Seats

Postby RaYmO » Wed Jun 21, 2006 5:41 pm

Hi Guys,

I spotted this on eBay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-X-F1-SPEC-RACING-SEATS-MX6-MX-3-MIATA-PROTEGE-BELTS_W0QQitemZ8076355589QQihZ019QQcategoryZ33701QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Has anyone purchased these before? I was thinking of getting a pair...

What gets me is that they are only $65 USD a PAIR (shipping costs about $165 USD)...

Still, at $230 USD for a PAIR of racing seats with harnesses (equivalent to $315 AUD at our current dropping exchange rate), we can't really go wrong if it works...

Hell if it doesnt work then I'll just weld some brackets and make a really mean gaming seat for when I play Gran Turismo 3 8)

Comments?

Especially when they \"give comfort and support to your thing.\"

My sides hurt

1990 "TOY MX5" - Red, of course!
Kings, Konis, LSD, Genie system, grille, Voodoo knob, braces, 14 degrees ATDC, woodgrain dash, style bars and lots of work making the rubber bands go around faster.

Won't fit an MX5 based on those measurements - my big-bum seat is 13inches across internally (15 inches on theirs) and 21inches across the shoulders (22 on theirs) and mine just fits against the seat belt mount post when right back. If they are steel framed you might be able to tweak the shoulders to fit, but my guess is they'll be too wide in the base. See my pics here:

LOL yeah... I thought that was pretty funny too...

But hey... I don't really care if they have bad grammar or speak fluent "Engrish"... at $65 for a pair, I'd put up with comfort and supprt to my "thing"

You can get pretty much the same type of seat on Aussie Ebay for about the same price...I have bought a couple and they are actually very good, and they fit in a MX5.

MX5mania sells the OBX ones.
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE

Plus several others in the bone yard...

$570 per pair plus $55 freight to Sydney from onlineperformance.com.au in Melbourne via ebay in Australia. This is where I got my Daytona from - good to deal with, well packed etc.

Whilst they may fit in arcoss the bum and shoulders I am interested in how they go with height?

I just fit under my hard or soft top and cannot afford to raise my seating even 1 inch.

And before you say I should have the top off as it's a convertible - get real. It is getting to around -5degC at home in the mornings these days. I drive because it is too freakin' cold to ride the bike.

Nearly all the fixed back seats are lower than std, but I can't vouch for the recliners - the chart should tell you though if you compare it to a std seat.

Maybe shorter than ours, but they should be higher than the NA and NB8A seats.
