Brian was first MX5 home in today's race finishing 12th, with Brad Douglas 13th in front of a Porsche and a couple of Loti. Looks like there was some traffic involved as their fastest laps (1:17.59 for Brian) were quicker than a couple of those Porsche things immediatly ahead of them.

Well done lads!

Couldn't get there today due to work commitments :( but saw the results just now on Natsoft  Brian, Bluey is flying :D :D

I know this was always going to be a development year, but finishing so high on this circuit is an excellent result!

Well done to all the guys (and girls) racing, CT will come around later in the week for a full rundown :D

Bluey was absoluetly flying on the weekend. There are still a few things to be worked on but getting to within .06 sec of the lap record totally exceeded the expectations.

Need a bit more go to be able to keep with some of the other cars on the straight but Bluey out handles and out stops everyone.

And it is still only early days!!!!

Cheers

Brian

Tougher weekend for me. Qualified well on saturday and made a great start in race 1 before being punted off the track exiting the bridge on the first lap. Relagated to last I claimed back about 5 spots before the chequered flag. The damage was restricted to one badly stuffed unobtainable enkei tarmac. Race 2 and the car had two practice rims in black on the front and two enkeis on the back. The car felt great but looking at the times the little bit of front understeer later in the race cost me time. It was red flagged and re-run inlcuding a safety car period which made things entertaining. Thanks to the retirements and a good solid run, including missing a spinning lotus, MG and porker I was right up the pointy end for race 3. Again, a great start for race 3 and I was desperately trying to stick on the tail of the RX7 of President Punter but he had too much squirt down the straight. Then with worsening understeer, I struggled to keep the lotus of Hobson behind me in the dying stages eventually letting him through. It probably cost me a third place for the weekend in class which would have been a small plus after a fairly average and expensive weekend.

Thanks again to the Canberra connection for making the trip. Thanks also go to MX5 Club stalwarts Mike, Jean and Bill for their continued support. :P

What a brilliant day of racing. One of the most exiting meetings I've been to in a long time - probably since the Supertourers used to race at Lakeside.

Thanks to all the racers and support crews who made us feel so welcome. Can't be easy to prepare between races with a couple of luddites poking around and getting in everyone's way

Here are a couple of video snippits from the weekend:

Start of race 2 with a turbo porsche spinning plus another Porsche hitting the wall and me having a half loose. I am also trying to work out how to get the car off the line. Not very well in this start. Race was red flagged after hlaf a lap. 7MB File

This is my fastest lap (1:16.1 secs) of the weekend and is the fastest ever lap of Oran Park by an MX5!!! 8MB File

I'm out due to my 3 missing pistons, but there should be at least 5-6 MX5s running around.
