Alloy rim options for NC?

Postby pastapete » Tue Jun 06, 2006 6:33 pm

Chasing gold colour, lightweight alloy, preferably forged, not cast.
17x7 or 7.5, close to stock offset (50mm), like around 6-7 kg.
any clues appreciated, can't get Enkeis in gold anywhere, have looked at Buddy Club P1 racing, can't establish availability in Oz. :?:

stock offset is actually 55 positive, buddy clubs can do 40mm, which would need at least rolled guards. It's frustrating to see the range available in the US (and the prices!), and availability is so hard here. Konig forged rims in bronze finish look great, getting them here would be the challenge...
still looking

priced some Volks from the US, $4800 before import duty and GST. I love my MX5, but not that much! BTW I saw a humble Holden Rodeo at a car show recently, his wheels cost him $12,000 - ya gotta be keen!

I just found some really nice ENKEI wheels that are available in 17 and 18 inch sizes for the NC. they are avaliable in gold with polished lip and are kinda spokey like stock NC wheels.
its a brand new wheel so probably wont be in the online catalogues..ill ring my local tyre place and ask them what it is....
HERE THEY ARE ENKEI RS7

DONT WORRY ABOUT THE FITMENT NOT INCLUDING THE NC......THEY ARE NOW AVAILABLE IN SIZE/OFFSET FOR THE NC.

I run 17x7.5 and 17x8.5 Simmons FRs on my NC they actually came in very close to the original weight of the 17x7 stock rims.

The Enkei RP-F1s and RP-03s should just fit in 17x7.5 48mm offset.

they are gorgeous wheels, and I reckon the gold would really complement the gold fleck in the velocity red. Wait for production is 60-90 days, cost landed in OZ is pretty prohibitive, that's before tyres...
BTW, ordered a stock LE rim last week, as a spare. Prices from Mazda dealers varied from $500 to more than $700
Razor, where did you source your wheels from?

Had them made by Simmons in Sydney.

Well, talk about an exercise in frustration! Tire Rack has 69 options for the NC, but like most US companies, they don't ship to Oz. The ones that do have products that can be $1000 per rim by the time they get here...
anyway, after way too much time online, I came across Urban Imports, really helpful people, surface shipping 4-6 weeks for US$200.
My new rims will be Rota subzero, in bronze, 16.5 lbs for 17x7.5 in +45 offset, landed here for under AUS$1000. Now I can start shopping for tyres... 8)

Update:
Tire Rack DOES ship to Australia, uses DHL, and costs only US$215 for 4 rims, for very quick delivery. Fitting tyres today to Rays Engineering 57F, only 6.8 kg.
The Rota Subzeros need to be sold for $ to fund my wheel obsession, and to give me some room in my garage. Details in For Sale section, price is negotiable...

I know you already have an LE NC but these may tempt another standard NC owner reading your post. :)

My Mazda LE wheels aren't going anywhere! For a start, the 57F Rays will go on my next MX5, and the original wheels will go back on, to keep the LE as original as possible.
Just finished fitting the Rays, it's photo time!
