NB Wheel centre going off colour

Postby ZenArcher » Mon Jun 12, 2006 9:52 am

A while back I bought some second hand NB wheels for my NA6. They are the non-polished type - same as the 10AE wheels only painted silver.

But now the centre caps are starting to go a funny dark mustard yellow colour on the sides - not on the face of the cap yet, jst all on the sides. I assume that the only way to get rid of this is re-painting. Can anyone tell me what colour silver I need to buy to respray the caps with so they match the OEM wheel colour?

I gather this is a common occurence in these wheels as I have seen posts in the past on this topic, but can't find them in the search option.

Also aside from the lightweight wheels that Mania have which are only 5kg for the 15inch size. What other lightweight wheels are out there that suit the MX5 in 15 or 16? I am thinking about selling my NB wheels and buying something else now. Just got the MX fully resprayed in Ford Blaze Red with a mirror gloss Black hard top and full JDM bodykit. No it doesn't look rice. The front is similar to the RB type 1 nose, side skirts barely look like they are there and the rear bumper giveaway is that it has a fog lamp in it which I just wired up yesterday. If someone can host some pics I will pass them on to post up. But I am not sure if the NB wheels suit the MX now.

Yes it is common. I used a can of no-name brand spray paint from Bunnings, Aluminimum. Not a 100% match, but very close. Matty did mention that there is a Subaru colour that is an exact match.....not sure of the code for that though

I believe that was for an NA. Might be the same colour, but I'm not sure. I do recollect someone on here having bought new ones from Mazda and only paid between $10 and $15 each, though.

I've used that Suberu paint. PERFECT match. I was even asked on the last run how I kept my centres from discolouring.

Can get it from Supercheap
