Door speakers NA8
Hello ,
I want to replace the door speakers in my NA8, I've messured them at 6 inchs. This size seems hard to come by. Will a set of 6.5 inch speakers fit in the original cut outs? I don't really want to hack into the doors, I'd like to leave the door trims original. Can anyone recomend a brand of good quaity two way or three way's? Would't mind a set of splits even as log as I don't have to cut into anything.
Any help would be greatfuly recived

I have JL Audio 6\" splits which fit perfectly. The tweeters are tied to the air vents in the corner of the dash by little zip ties which are under the tweeter and allow it to sit flush.
Most decent 2-ways of this size are 6\". You won't see any real benefit from a 6.5\".

spend the extra money and get the splits.
much better quality and better sound. you won't regret it but it does cost a bit more.
I spent $300 on a pair of DLS splits.

possible.. you'll need to dremel a bigger whole in the door frame to mount the speaker.
you'll probally want to make a MDF ring to mount the speaker on to as well.
and i don't know about the mount depth... you might be lucky witha cheaper 8\" speaker but anything with a mig magnet might not fit in the door.
you'll then need to cut in to the door panel to make it all nice.
maybe alot of sound dampening too to keep the door from vibrating like crazy too....
hmmm
i might try it.

I run mine off the headunit for about a year until I bothered to put a 4x30w amp in and BOY does it make a HUGE difference. The Headunit was by no means underpowered (45x claimed) but in reality this is only around 10w RMS and the dynamic range is much less. If you have an amp or can afford one get it.

The SQ increase I got by changing to an aftermarket headunit (from the standard cassette deck) was noticeable - and then the SQ increase again from going to that to the amp was even more noticeable. My problem at the moment with my Jaycar splits is that I have nowhere to mount the tweeter, and they rattle the crap out of the door trim!
