Toyo T1-Rs

Had mine fitted today - 215/40x16 on 16x7 rims. So far very impressed. Definitely stiffer in the sidewalls than the Pirelli PZero Nero 205/45's they replaced, so turn in is a lot sharper. Grip seems good, won't know about the wet grip until it rains, but I'd say a good choice based on the 80km dríven so far. Very quiet too. Will give more feed back when I've had a chance to explore them some more.

Interesting - Toyos have a reputation for really soft sidewalls... :?

$500, new... gotta love eBay! 8) $60 to fit & balance, so $560 all up. Keep your eyes out for 16" tyres on eBay guys - it seems that these are not a popular size. I was the only bidder on these tyres much to the disgust of the seller who paid a lot more for them (they wouldn't fit under the guards of his car :roll: )

Oh, and Bevan - Marvin launches even harder from the lights now with more traction in the rear. Just thought you should be aware... you know, just in case you happen to find yourself and your significant other beside me at the lights 8) :P

Give it a chance to wear off that greasy stuff they coat tyres in for storage.

I found the T1R side walls a little squishy but that makes them more predictable when they're going to slide.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I was waiting to get your opinion.
So how are they in the wet, you should have had some of that over the last few days hopefully.
I am just totally addicted to the RA1's, but need some street rubber too, maybe.

Haven't had a real fang yet - I was carrying a battery in the boot on Friday - but so far I'm a happy camper. Certainly not nervous in the wet, maybe a little noisier than the Pirellis though. Forecast is for rain tomorrow so I'll see how they go then...

Another nice touch is the rim protecting ridge on the sidewalls of the 40 series.

They feel fine STM - if anything they are kinder over bumps than the Pirellis - don't ask me how though. Speedo is out 6kmh at 100kmh according to the GPS. Nothing seems to be rubbing, and I already had problems with speed humps so a little more doesn't make much difference!

Very good in the wet, considerably better than the Pirellis, particularly in the aquaplane region at speed. Still haven't really thrown it around - traffic is abysmal in Sydney at present. I might go to work via Glenmore park tomorrow 8)

Did the Glenmore Park SS this morning - very impressed! These are good tyres and grip much better than the Pirelli P Zero Neros they replaced, particularly in the wet. Can't say if they are better than the Michelins as I havent sampled them, but the price is similar. Note that mine are 215/40x16 so that may make some difference - my observations on sharper turn in are probably down to smaller sidewall than the Pirellis. I don't know if my Pirellis were as good as others - they may not have been made in the 'right factory'.... :frown:
