ok, for the crank angle sensor which colour wire feeds sensor 1 and sensor2? it's either white or yellow blue for either one.

also can the two wire's at the coil pack ignition output 1&2 be found at the ecu end or do you have to pick it up at the plug at the engine bay.

and also where is the fuel pump lt green wire located in the loom. wheres the easist spot to hook into it.

Steve 818 wrote:For the fuel pump I have run a jumper from pin E1 to Fc in the AFM connector (for a 1.6) which bypasses the safety system and keeps the fuel pump going while ever the ignition is on.

Or you could get creative and tap into either the Violet wire from the ECU (Conn 1C) or the light green wire from the AFM to replicate the OEM signal. But either option will depend on how the Microtech fires the fuel pump (either by grounding the signal or by sending a signal).

The Microtech is a ground switch. You can connect it to the Light green from teh TPS like Steve suggests 8)

Hey Glen,

Could we get some pics of your project?

I know you're probably in the middle of some serious head scratching, but just think. You are paving the way to Guru status, having your head filled with new knowledge you never had, and tapping into the knowledge that others have gained through the same frustrating, but ultimately satisfying process.

I'd love to see how the thing's looking.

ok i shall go forth and wire today and take some pics thursday. working tomorrow

sean is the brain child.
the only thing i can offer is i think your better off buying a brandnew microtech or a plug&play ecu.

my ecu has so far cost me $1030. but thats configured for my setup not just a stock 1.6. it's still going to be $200-400 for a tune. i saved on the install of the ecu thanks to sean who has helped me heaps. im still trying to do it cheap as possible but i have realised it is very hard to achieve a cheap turbo install. i have 2 cars so theres been no super rush. the only way to do it cheap is to keep waiting for a part here or there to turn up for da right price which is what i have done. i picked up a complete intercooler+pipping and BOV for $56 off a BP series motor. i only want the BOV though but that is a good example. besides the ecu the intercooler and pipping was the second biggest head scratch for me. not knowing the correct volume of air from the turbo to the throttle body. only 1 way to find out.

ok, when it's wired up can i run at idle on da stock injectors or do i need to put da 460 inj in as this is what the ecu is configured for? i figure that the pulse rate wont make any difference under idle.

can someone concur?

Check the lights on the ECU for faults...

Do you have it setup on a laptop or hand controller?
If you do I can run you through some tests which will let you check that it's working correctly.

Basic things to check:

Is it getting fuel?
Can you hear the fuel pump whirring away in the tank?
After a while cranking can you smell the fuel coming out the exhaust?

Is it getting spark?
Pull the plugs and check.

Do you have the timing set correctly? Again if you have a handset I can run you through the process of setting it within the microtech.

It could also be that you've got it all correct but teh settings the tuner has put in are not quite right to get it to start

Checked that it's firing TDC on compression stroke (not TDC exhaust stroke)?
I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

no laptop or hand controller, the later could be looking a good option.

are the hand controlers user friendly or do you have to some sort of degree in engineering?

just pulled the first plug, no spark. rechecked wiring for ign out 1&2. grey/red to yellow/brown. grey/balck to brown. they seem to be correct.
also im just running a jumper for the fuel pump in diag box. F/P to ground for now till it starts. i have left the green from micro unconnected.

whats next?
