not pedal to metal.

Ah . Thanks for clearing that up :D.

Yep, but isn't the thermostat still closed(?) at that point and oil pressure still highish? Does that matter?

Sorry for the silly q's - I'm still learnin' :)

9 times out of 10 if your gauge is up towards the 1/4 mark rodent, the thermostat has already started to open 8)

don't forget.....its not about speeding up the warm up process. its about making the engine run smoother

tough question. opinions will vary quite a lot.

when going hard i try to conciously change at 6500 rpm
however in a recent video i realised i go to 7000 rpm on the regular basis without realising. I've personaly only hit the revlimiter conciously a handfull of times. Add half a handfull of times accidently in 10 years of driving this MX5.
other drivers are quite happy to hit the revlimiter any time anywhere.

well for me stan, i've never hit the limiter yet, & have no intention of doing it either, not because i'm a sook, simply because these little cars hit their peak power WELL before the rev limiter cuts in, so to me, it's just a waste of fuel & time in a standard car.........if i'm stripin' it, i too shift @ 6500.....again, that's just me 8)

where abouts do the mx engines hit their peak? assuming standard engine.

most of my driving would probably take place below 6k.
but then compared to some people around here i would fit into that sook category. i don't trust myself enough to be able to get out of situations i'm likely to put myself into. nor do i know how far i can push it before its *too* far.
