just went & checked out the standard setup........without pulling the front of the car to pieces like that idiot

...........there is a pipe (about the same diameter as the bling job) that runs from the airbox, along the front of the car & finishes beside the drivers side headlight in front of everything else where it would be sucking in the same nice cool air as the "pull the whole nosecone off to clean or replace the aftermarket crap" intake........it amuses me that some ppl think they know better than the manufacturer..............i think i'll be leaving well enough alone
oh........& at least i'll feel secure enuff if i ever go thru any deep puddles with ours........that bling jobbie is sitting awfully low to the ground

I hear you, although I'm sure the factory intake has no "growl"

though right? Depends on what your'e after I guess..

As you will note in the EULA, your payment of $39.99US should be made to BigdogsRetirementFund.com within 7 days of installation or your system may become unstable and eratic....

Why spend money testing when it's cheaper to sell a bling intake that people automatically assumes going to be better.

It costs nothing (ok, maybe $5) and about 10 minutes to test an intake...
BTW the accoustics of the NC intake were very carefully designed for growl... and it's a short, cold air sucking design. Pretty hard to improve it...

that's exactly what it sounds like to me matty.......tramp it hard & you get a nicely balanced intake, engine & exhaust noise...........

The intake pictured was developed by AEM in conjunction with Mazdaspeed and is also sold (with Mazdaspeed markings) through Mazda North America. I understand that this unit was developed for use on the 2006 MX-5 Cup series cars, and is claimed to produce 7 peak bhp. I reckon it would be a reasonable bit of gear
