I have both the sub-braces front and rear on my car...they are fine. I also have aftermarket cat-back and all is good...it does not scrape and Rodent it isn't really low enough for the rear one to scrape on anything...my 5 is lowered 1.25 inches and i only have problems scraping the front airdam lip. I would suggest just mounting it normally and not doing it up-side down...might be to much hassle that way.

you would have to run over something pretty big for the rear brace to be a problem.

butters, the bracing is the best thing to do next. go for after market front & rear chassis braces, much better quality than the crap factory ones.
once you've done the chassis bracing check out some roll bars. have a look at dangeradam's car, he has a Norm Singleton rollbar fitted, he should have contact details for Norm too.

Hahah you have a good point there - why didn't I think of that..? :oops: :lol: I might as well bolt in on properly then. It's finally going on tomorrow :D.

The front bar made a world of difference to my car - steering wheel no longer fights me when I drive over bumps or crappy roads. The back end has always been a loose mess though, so I hope the brace there improves it at least somewhat.

Don't forget to mark the alignment bolts and count the turns to unscrew the bolt - otherwise you'll stuff your rear alignment. :)

Update: rear brace (and my KYB's) are finally on the car :mrgreen:. There's a noticeable reduction in rear end looseness, especially on rough roads. Definitely worth putting on.

And yeah that kink around the exhaust causes no issues with clearance whatsoever, even though my car is now crazy loooooowww 8).

so i have set my eyes on the racing beat front lower suspension brace and the flying miata rear brace. any sugestions on the best way to get them? should i just try and deal with them direct?

that's the quickest & easiest way, deal direct with both of them.

Do all the other braces first. Then worrie about the Strud brace last. i personally found it of very little difference. However i kept it fitted because of the bling bling.

I am interested in these two braces also, perhaps if there are others we can organise a group buy ?? and a dodgy day fitting them :mrgreen:

Whilst I'm still waiting for mine (and believe me there will be a post up as soon as its one the car - three months wait so far courtesy customs) I would be going a FM butterfly brace before any of these options.

Just search for the \"FM Butterfly Brace\" thread on Miata.net . Those guys rave about how sucessful the butterfly is on any MX5 including the NA, comments like \"It feels like a new car\" feature pretty often. Mania can get one into the country for you for a decent price all things considered (depending on your point of view). You just have to be a bit luckier than we have ie the customs wait.

FYI FM charge a FORTUNE for shipping, but this charge when factored into the price we were quoted seemed to be quite a bit less through Mania than going to FM direct.

i just got onto a mob that had some racing beat braces in stock and they wanted $170 extra for front and $150 extra for rear over the converted US price :?
