HKS Turbo Kit

Postby Mick93 » Thu May 04, 2006 3:04 pm

I am sure others have seen this kit on EBay and I am thinking of buying it . It is a complete HKS turbo kit using a T25. It looks like a good idea as it has everything (including a HKS computer) and at $2K usd seems good value. I am not looking for huge boost more, better power but small lag. I know the turbo boys out there should be able to help me. If I buy this kit dose anyone think I will need anything else to get a modest gain in power?? I really don't want to have to go into programable ECU's big injectors ect ect. So anyones advice would be helpful.

yer the kit looks good. now just buy it :)

when i did a search for turbo's i came across npowers conversion kit which consists of a dump pipe and a manifold. thats pretty good value for 6 hunge but i'd hardley call it a \"conversion kit\". more like a starting point.

He's in Hell for a spell. Might get back to you if his car is still where he left it....

Check out the above website. I think you may find that you might get it cheaper from them. Depending on exchange rates of course.

Thats the kit Black04RSC has. It's extremely easy to install with basic hand tools and there's no need to drill the sump for the oil return line as it uses an oversize dip stick tube. Buy the kit, install it in about 12 hours drive away that night with an extra 30kw atrw. No more money to spend on tuning etc. I'm not sure if that kit comes with water cooling pipes for the turbo but we added them to the Money Pit in the interest or reliability. On Robert's car it runs up to about 6.5PSI safely. After that it runs out of fuel and needs some more timing adjustment which is outside the scope of the Fcon Mini. I highly recomend it though for a basic turbo set up. If you're after more power it may not be the most economical way to go though. By the time you add intercoolers and better fuel management to run higher boost you might be better to go with an AVO kit. But with the stock HKS turbo kit and 6.5PSI you should be up near SE performance levels. Not bad for such a small outlay.

ok, i'm new to all this so sorry for the dumb questions in advance. i've done a bit of reading on turbos and i think i understand the basics of how they work now. i'm curious as to whether the hks kit will work with my new CAI. i don't see why it wouldn't....in some ways the CAI could be seen as a sort of qausi intercooler..altho it comes before the compressor, not after it...so abvioulsy isn't as efficient, but the air going into the compressor is cooler to start with so might be a little cooler on the way out. so, if i got a hks can i leave my CAI in there or would i have to put it back to stock first?? here is a pic, sorry if this seems like a silly question but i'm a newby :?
