What aftermarket seats have you fitted? now with pics

Postby bigdog » Fri Apr 28, 2006 5:07 pm

Looking to create more interior space in my SP. I don't want to cut up my existing leather seats, so I'm looking at after market jobbies. Has anyone successfully fitted the OBX/Corbeau Forza or Daytona seats? these are really well priced on Ebay, and being steel framed can be 'tweaked' to fit. Any other suggestions? I've looked at the list on the big forum, but it seems more aimed at NAs and is quite old now. Also, how have others tackled the ADR and seat belt belt mounting problem?

Sorry Roderic - not looking to swap :) Want to put the originals on the shelf while I play. I should note that I am probably best referred to as a 'bargearse' so a Sparco Sprint probably wouldn't accomodate the rear acre :( One of the reasons I'm looking at steel framed seats is that they can be subtly adjusted around my dimensions.

The seatbelt one is easy. Get a eye bolt and mounting plate from revolution racegear and an NA stalk and mount it on the tunnel. As for seats, I'm not exactly a narrow arse and I have a Velo GP90 seat in the \"wide\" fitting. They do an extra wide as well. I needed to trim the seat to fit, ie narrow down the wings a little with the dremel but it's a good fit. I think you will find that steel frames seats are still bulkier than glass ones. 8)

Thanks Lou, I have the Sparco dimensions list and the only one that looks like I would fit is the Evo3 (the 'Bargearse Special') which looks to be too big to fit the car. I think the Velo might be the go - Simone also thought it would work for me. I'll have test sit in one soon and see... My real problem is that for some reason Blackmans added padding to the seats in my car when they did the leather, and I'm loathe to cut them up in case it stuffs them... :(

These fit with relative ease....http://cgi.ebay.com.au/OBX-Forza-2000-R ... dZViewItem

These are a tad wider than the Daytona so the Daytona should fit the pass side as well.Unfortunatly my ass won't fit in the Daytona
The Daytona is probably good for a 70/75 kg person where the Forza should go to 100kg.

Mounting is pretty straight forward however a new rear mounting hole is required in each slider.
I aslo fitted 10mm spacers to my rails to clear the slider release handle.
Now for the bad news, people over 5 10' won't fit a helmet under a hardtop:(

Dave, I had a Sparco Evo2 in my echo, I was going to transfer it to the mx but the shoulder wings are too wide for the NB cockpit...... Since being slighty bigger the evo2 is a perfect match... but sux that it doesnt fit......

Now I got a Sparco sprint, fits perfectly....clearing the door trim by millimeters....

Thanks guys.

Eggbox, my reading of the Sparco dimension chart indicates I would need an Evo 3 seat, but this would be unlikely to fit a 5.

Robbie, the Forza and Daytona seats were what started me thinking of alternatives. I have emailed them for dimensions - the price is excellent, I just need to know if I can fit the seat and the seat can fit the car. What is the seat cover material like on yours?

And finally CT, there are apparently three sizes of GP90 seat - do you know which one you have?

Cheers,

Bigdog.

Thanks Robbie - my question was more 'can I fit the seat'. I am over 120kg in weight and 6'2\" so I am looking at the larger version of the forza/daytona range and waiting for the dimension chart from the dealer to confirm if it will fit the car.

K, now i'm with ya

At 120kg your gonna be struggeling, the fixed back will be the prob.
The forza is 19.5\" at the base as is the biggest the car will take, mine just touches the trans tunnel and you need to slide the seat to get out of it which is quite a chore(or am i just getting old  :P )

I'll have the same problem, lots of aftermarket seats have lots of padding, I can't afford to sit any higher in the seat.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
