Oil aint oil

Postby EGG80X » Sat May 06, 2006 8:18 pm

I recently change my gearbox oil to castrol vmx90, and now my gearbox sounds alot whole lot noisier..... A friend took it for a spin and from what i hear from the outside, sounds like a diesel truck.......

I read somewhere some mx5s are prone to gearbox noises, just wondering if gearbox oil weigh can dampen the noise..... Any recommendations?

Is that a straight 90-weight oil? Light oil can make your 'box noisier (and personally I don't recommend it), but if it's a straight 90W then that's plenty thick. I use a 75/90...

75W90 is the recomended viscosity.
