Wheel Weight - What is a decent weight?

Adam_NA - I'm not a big fan off white wheels...only on white cars where they are colour-coded it looks awesome. And a fair amount of DISH is a must for me.

Stan - I'm not worried about police, as Adam said I don't think they are going to sit there and measure the wheel width. I'd be much more likely to get defected for my exhaust or the fact that I have no horn.

CT - 16x8 :shock:

... Mission possible but not probable...I am imagining an NA that looks tubbed when you look at it from the front :lol:

I was doing a bit of surfing and came across these which I also really like the look of...and they are 16x7s which is a bonus

Having spent the last few weeks looking for a lightish 16*7 reasonably descent looking wheel to fit an MX5 I can say it's almost mission impossible. As each manufacturer releases a new catalogue there are less 16\" wheels available. 16 is definitely an orphan size these days. Apparently the drift types want 15's and everyone else wants 17+. As CT said, if you want a 16\" under 6kg be prepared to spend upwards of $500 per rim.

My old new wheels weighed 6kg, the factory ones 7kg and my current ones weigh 8kg. The only difference I could detect between 8kg and 6kg was a slightly better ride with the lighter wheel.

Go JDM, plenty of variety and different offset to suit but prepare to pay for a price
SSR type C 16x7 is @ 4.8kg each wheel
All of the Forged wheels in the Rays engineering \"volk racing\" range is pretty light too
Racing Hart CP-035 is light as
Enkei RPF1 is my fav also very light

16x8s will be for the SE and yes some clarification, I am not talking about road wheels. There is not plenty, but there are enough decent 15inch road wheels. There are very few decent 16s. Again, if you actually look at the wheel specs, lots of JDM wheels are not actually ideal for an MX5 as the offsets are incorrect. I have recently spoken to Arrow wheels in NZ and Dragway wheels in Victoria about custom made rims. They will cost about $650 per rim in 16x8 in any offset you want with a nice simple 5 spoke design. Light too - about 6kgs!

Those are the exact wheels I have on my NA. I haven't noticed any difference in handling since having them installed and I'm very happy with them!

I am looking at 15x7 Lenso VPD's they only weigh about 4.5 kilos a rim which is impressive and have the right offset. I have seen them fitted to clubmans and they look great and are light as well.

What's a reasonable weight for 17'?

I tend to like Enkei's due to their good looking and timeless austhetic and light weight - any other recommendations?
