help with turbo please

hi guys, need help.

i,ve almost finnished install on turbo now...waiting for ecu to get back. well i have everything else hooked up so i thought id turn the key. i wanted to hear or get to the stage where the turbo starts to spool up. car started fine

....... but my boost gauge just continues to read vacum? i havent been game to go over 3000rpm as id thought it would start to spool at 2000rpm, im not driving it or anything. keep in mind this is my first FI car. i thought it would be almost full boost at 3200. its a tdo4h intercooled. am i reading the gauge wrong? it doesnt sound like the turbo is doing much either.

if your not under load then it wont really make any boost, especially at that low rpm. Mine does the same thing, if i sit there and rev it it'll just go straight to 0 and not really over that, but the bov will sometimes vent.

Wanna make boost while free revving?

Retard timing 20 degrees.
Add 30ish % extra fuel and free rev til you make boost

Mmm anti-lag, works awesome for rally guys. Pity about the whole destorying a turbo an event part though.

Not quite as rough on parts as the way the rally guys do it, but not quite as effective either

Hey Glen thats the same thing i did when I put my turbo on!

Not knowing much about turbos, after spending quite a while installing everything in a way that I thought was perfect, I started mine too and began to panic about it not generating any boost! :cry:

It was a hell of a relief to find out later that it only really generates any boost while under load!

Dont worry.. when you get it on the road you will be pleasantly surprised, and that boost gauge will climb quickly

hehe and i cant wait. it's been off the road for 4 months. i'd just like it back on the road. its got to the point of i almost have forgotton why i took it off the road.

Yeah mine was on blocks for a month, and i was getting to that stage too, i was working on it every night after work.

In my eyes it was starting to look like a 4wd sitting 3 foot of the ground!

After not driving it for that long makes me appreciate every cruise 10 times more!

I just checked your cardomain site.. thats a clean sweet ride .. and i love the seats!

How did you do your lazy eyes? buy something or custom circuit? manual adjustment?

thanks for the compliments, yes i bought the lazy kit off the net. but if your any good with electrics it really is very easy to make yourself. i will put up what i did and how i did it in a mini. im just trying to access the vault as i type.

Yeah Ive been looking at buying one myself off ebay or making one.

Im not too bad with electronics, But that would be great if you could post up either circuit photos or diagrams!

ok what i got was 3 wires and a switch. one wire is fused. (it uses the fuse already there) these wires connect to the retractor motor fuse.locate the retractor motor fuse in the fuse box under the bonnet. you take out the fuse and connect one wire straight into where the fuse would normally go, then with a short bit of wire runs to the fuse and the \"other\" spot where the fuse used to go.
then the 3rd wire goes back to the switch. then you turn on your pop up light button and nothing should happen. then touch the switch and they should rise. when you take your finger off the switch it will stop the current flowing through to the retractor motors.

now that i have you confussed i thought i,d take a pic but my batterys are flat. i will have a pic up tomorrow night.
