Why do you want a dry sump setup :

More clearance ?

To sit the Engine Lower?

More or Less Oil Required?

Think you're loosing HP as the oil sloshes onto the crankshaft?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Okibi,

I a FWD car like the laser (or the 323 Familia that I used to crew on) the oil filter location is a real bugger when you are rallying, it doesn't take much to knock it for some reason.

It was also a major drama to change the filter, more so than on the MX5.

The sump clearance to rocks is also a major cause for concern, so if you could do away with the sump, it would be good. Gives you more space between the bash plate and the important bits.

Additional oil capacity is always nice to have. :D

Years ago had a FWD laser, I can't remember the oil filter being hard to change. Perhaps i've repressed the memory.

I assumed they wanted more clearance (being a rally car), but when I thought \"how would I design a dry sump\" , you'd probably need to have a pump at the lowest collection point, but then I figured once it was all designed to drain the oil to the pump and attach the pump etc it wouldn't gain that much clearance.

Because I’m too slack to go to the garage and measure, how tall is the sump?

I was speaking of the turbo 4WD version. The plumbing for the turbo inlet manifold gets in the way from above, the rally bash plate from below. I believe the sporting term is 'snookered'.
