NatMeet Track Day
Woooaa! What a day.
I spent the whole time, apart from lunch, waving flags and pointing fingers at anyone who was interested. Probably managed to confuse less than 5% of the field . Best seat in the house at the start/finish line though.
Very sorry to see the dramas with r0gue (radiator explosion ), sabretooth (rear engine water bung blow out ), boags (muffler broken off etc. ), ase05 (intercooler connector thingo coming adrift ) and unknown (rolled tyre ).
OMY005 should have some excellent pics and movies of the day.

Yep, top day all around. Very well organised and run. I took photos of the time sheets as they were when I left.

I was pretty happy with topping the rank of non turbo/race NA's on both National and Clubman and found the new Tein's to give excellent balance and adjustability on the limit.

It seemed like a very well organised day. I only got to 'hear' most of it as I had my head stuck in the bonnet replacing a radiator that blew the top tank apart. Sabretooth is bound to have a pic somewhere.
Not 100% on what caused the car to overheat, but I think either the thermo fan failed, or just could not cope with the temp.
Am very disappointed I didn't get a chance to run the new suspension in after Sabretooth and I spent a number of hours on Tuesday night installing the Konis & Kings. What I did do felt very solid.
The four laps I did get to do were great, but I'd not be interested in doing the national circuit again. It is just fast one way fast back x2.
Hopefully won't be too long & I'll be back out again!

Notice - Geoff Marsh 2nd fastest 1.6!!! WOOHOO Best time was 71.78
I also believe that Peter Cox had semi slicks(please correct me if i'm wrong....)
However, yes, my mate pranged my car....
The impact creased the muffler, which blew apart during my lap.... So we riped it off (i had been told 7 days ago that i would need to replace the muffler in the next month or so - rusted and flaking inside) so i wasn't too pissed about that!
WOW it sounded good after that! Made for very free breathing
Since the muffler was already buggered, i said i would pay for that, but my mate has taken it like a man and agreed to pay for the rest in full.
What a fantastic day!

Okay, I've done a couple of piccies. The other 200 or so (mostly Motorkhana using Rhys' uber lens) will have to come later.
Philip Ashton aka CharlieBrown heading for the start/finish line, and about to give a wave.
JBT doing his stuff in the tower.
PJ, Alan Weber and Peter Cox
r0gue's radiator! Out of focus though - I think I still had the long lens on and it couldn't focus. (whoops)
Geoff Marsh aka boags' car post-crunch.
That rear left on Mike Marsh's car is about ready to launch!
Rollin' rollin' rollin'...
Yours truly (Geoff Wilson).
Boags' interesting radiator cooldown method, ie \"throw water on the radiator between races\"
Benny (George Benedek) hooning around the track.
He of Many Lenses - Rhys Keepence.
Mex attack! Mark Sharpies, Benny and Verne Johnson.
Verne Johnson
More motorkhana, Kim Cole.
Phil Roberts giving the cone a wee nudge! (Phil Roberts)
CharlieBrown belting over a cone!
More Charlie.
Kim Cole's Merlot smoking up the tyres.
Tom Sandmann picking up the rear left.
PJ swinging the back around.
Cal being a hoon (you can -just- see the wisps of tyre smoke).

Thanks Really, that day was a blast except for being towed off the track! Fortunately, no permanent damage done. I stole one of the caps from the bottom of one of the chairs to use on my car! And thanks to the kind fellow who had a hoseclamp for me to clamp it on with. I'd have been trying to find donor clamps from other pipes on my car. Here's the offending bung - it's the rusty bit where I had my chair leg cap clamped on. It worked for 2 years but decided to give out on the track. Bah.
And thanks to the nice admin(s) for updating the names in my post!
Danny, I had a look, and the only ones I have are out of focus. I'll dig for it again and post it up tonight. If he'd like a photo taken I'm happy to do it the next time I'm at MX-5 Plus.
