also, has anyone used the 'invisible' chrome coloured bulbs that light up orange?

Yup, I got a pair of those 'invisible' chrome coloured bulbs from mx5parts.co.uk when i ordered my altessa (altezza?) tail lights.
Paid a mint for them and yes, they are invisible  .
Wanna buy them off me (the invisible tail lights)?

I also have a pair of chrome coloured/silver coated indicator bulbs. I bought them thinking they would fix this problem. $20 from Autojoy

Yeah they arn't as bright as the normal ones...but definately people can still see you. I don't use them though cause the chrome/silver coating gets VERY VERY hot and when testing them I took one out and burn't my hand...so I'm holding a grudge against them...but yeah they are perfectly fine and legal. They glow a much deeper cool looking orange then the bright normal light ones.

Scroll down to B1 Hybrid Visual Style - the amber one...
They don't sell them for $40 though anymore...I would never pay that for indicator lights

 unsure. Which is reason enough not for me to use them
If you don't mind the drive down to Hoon Central (Hoppers Crossing) you can have them. Email or msn yours truly: fastfreddygassit@hotmail.com
It will most probably take me a few days to find them

one of the original questions was something to do with flash duration control - i found this:

http://www.narva.com.au/Switches_38.html

electronic flasher cans.

also, fitting an LED with a 1k ohm dropping resistor will help it put up with 12-14VDC, to get the can to behave properly ye would need a fairly powerful resistor across (in parallel) the + and - of the led, maybe 1 or 5 watt power handling, and about 1300 ohms resistance. There is an equation for figuring out exactly what resistance you want, but i think i forgot tht one years ago.

electronic flasher can sounds easier to me... :)

10mm drill bit.
small blob of kwik grip.
some patience.
10mm buffed LED.
1kohm dropping resistor.
.2 grams solder.
15mm heatshrink.
5 minutes work.
legal.

Yeah that bulb is plenty bright without the orange lid in front of it. They now serve as my parkers/driving lights since I rewired them, and some forum members here can attest to how bright/annoying they can be :P

So yeah if you keep'em as blinkers and replace them with orange bulbs of same wattage they'll still work great.

I did it to mine with a flat blade screwdriver and a hairdryer. The orange bit inside is just held in with 2 screws, You should try it, very easy to do will take you an hour or so. I also swaped my indicator with my parking lights, so now the indicator is on the outside where the parkers where.

Heres a step by step guide for you, if your interested.

I just did this to my lights tonight...mind you it took me a few months to be bothered. Being impatient I did slightly crack a corner of one clear lens off but nothing a little silicon cant glue back together and good as new. I only took the orange lens' out, i didn't do the wiring for the parker lights as I like the indicator in the middle. I am surprised at how much of a difference it makes and looks from the front, especially with clear indicators and reflectors. So many small things like this add up and can make a car look really nice. Will post pictures tomorrow before and after shots.
