Cheapest is probably vinyl backed tape.

Best, would be to take it to a auto upholstery shop. They will proabably vinyl weld it and it is very hard to tell that it was ever damaged. I had a 10 cm tear fixed for about $90 by Blackman and Sons in Morrabbin.

If your roof is getting old, ie rear window going yellow and the vinyl is splitting around the edges it is probably time for a new one. The MX5 Factory in Ringwood or the above mentioned upholstery business can help with that.
