Michelin Pilot Preceda HOPE THEY'RE GOOD

I'm pretty excited, i've just done a deal on a set of Michelin Pilot Precedas in 195/50R/15 for the 10AE [NB8A]. These are replacing the original Michelin Pilot Sports on my car which have now clocked up 85,000K's
I hope i'll be as happy with the new Michies as I have been with the originals.
Any comments would be appreciated. [The new tyres will be fitted 17/03]

They work OK on the SP (205/45/16) but they need a bit of heat in them to get them to stick their best. I've found the wet weather grip a bit variable though. They dont squeal through corners and ride fairly quietly. They seem to be lasting OK too. I should get around 30K km out of my set.

I originally tried to get these for the 10AE but they had no stock. Since then, I found out that the 205/45/16s have a re-inforced sidewall which the 195/50/15s don't. I had the 16s on another car and they were very good, though part of the appeal was the sidewall.

However, looking at the kms you got out of the original set, this shouldn't be a problem.

I've got them on my SP too, and I've been very happy with them.
Apart from their grip, which is pretty good, they feel great, just like a sportscar should.

I've tried a few different tyres on my SP, and while some do have more grip, they make the car feel dead and lifeless, whereas the Michellins have a very nimble feel and immediate turn in.

Good on ya guys, thanks for the feedback. BTW Ted, the 195/50R/15 definately has the re-inforced sidewalls...which is what I want to stick with.
I'm happy with the handling & wear characteristics of my current tyres, so I think I'll hang off awhile before doing a wheel alignment. Does this make sense? I'm just afraid to mess with what seems OK & don't want to stuff things up. I reckon the car will feel a hell of a lot different with the new rubber & I can't wait.

if you're less than totally impressed with them col, i'll be surprised, they're the best tyre i've dríven on & being the top of the michelin tree for road tyres they'd wanna be

Cool, I will get them next then. When I looked (Nov) they had run out of stock all round Oz, so the new shipment must have been revised. I still have the tech note here somewhere stating that the 195/50/15 was one of about 6 sizes to not have the cool sidewall. Are they any dearer now? I think I was quoted $165 each ($200 for the 205/45/16)

Fitted this arvo and even on the short run home I could feel improvement. especially through a couple of local round-abouts. I guess I need to put a few hundred K's on them before they reach their potential.
The owner of Mansons Tyres Plus in Berwick [Glen] Ph 03 9707 2199 has told me he will look after MX-5 Club people with \"special prices\". I am certainly happy with the deal I got today.

I'm hoping to get away in the MX-5 for a couple of days next week, so I should have a better understanding of how the Michelins perform when I return.

Mine took a few hundred km to scrub in. Let us know what you think. Mine are just about finished and I think I'll be getting a new set of Precedas to replace them.

Ralphie.....$279 That's crazy. Obviously not 15\" Maybe for 17\" or 18\"?
I'm pleased I stuck with the 15\" on the NB,,,,my tyres were more than $100 cheaper.

Mine are starting to loose grip near the end of thier life but then I probably only have a few k's left on them anyway. I think they will make excellent skid-pan tyres. :lol:

I wont be getting them again if they've gone up that much. I paid $210 for mine 205/45/16 about 12 months ago in Sydney.
