NA6 Air Con removal

heya,
i pulled out my air con and it feels better..
i did however leave the brack that the compressor bolts to...
i have read on the big forum that one of the bolts is critical to the oil pump.

does anyone know which one?
It seems there are 3-4 going into the engine, and one longer one inline with the block holding the bracket to it.

Im sure I had mine off completely when changing the engine. Nothing rattles now thankfully

how does the bolt connect to the oilpump internally ?

I had my aircon disconnected for a couple of months over summer and the car felt faster. But I succombed and but a new compressor put in and all repaired. Best 900 dollars I've ever spent, I love Air Con.

I think there are 4 bolts that hold the bracket from the side and there is a smaller bolt that come in from the front,that is the one that you need to replace,without the bracket it is too long so you need to get the shorter bolt.

I don't know which is critical to the pump, but why not try and see? If it leaks, then you've plugged the wrong hole.

And there's no way I'd remove my aircon. In hot weather it's bliss.

yeah its only a pain about 5-10 days a year...
worth it in my books..

yeah i finally found some more info on the big forum,

and lou is right, u need to replace the long bolt with a shorter one....

I was reading some posts from UK 5 owners and they are complaining there heaters are not hot enough. :shock:

The bolt that needs to be replaced is the one that bolts to the "front" of the block, you can see it if you look front on at the engine between the power steering belt.
it clamps the oil pump to the block. if you dont replace it, you'll get a leak.
you have to get a new bolt as the old one is too long without the a/c bracket and cant be re used.

No bolts in the RHS of my oil pump. Is there something someone's not telling me?
