Annoying squeak coming from the drivers side rear area

because what im talking about is clearly not welded in at the back, but rather a normal screw with a washer around it, all the other screws are fine its just this 1 perticular screw seems like its been tightened too many times, because now the head is stuffed and the alan key just spins around in circles in the screw head.

gert an "easyout"

drill a hole into the thread, and screw the easyout into it - it has a reversing thread and the further you screw it in, it will bite and remove the screw. it takes a bit of care but once the screw is removed yu can fit another screw without a stuffed allen head and tighten it properly!

My car developed a squeak after the new roof was fitted. It's taken me a few days but I finally found it :roll:

. It was a rivet attaching part of the roof vinyl near a side frame that is upright when the roof is on/up. I thought it was some or one of the hinges. Anyhow, the rivet was juuuuuust touching the frame upright and making a hellava racket. It was way down near the catch trough for the rain rail. Moved the rivet one poofteenth of a millimeter and silence

That sounds like mine...

Mine does it when up or down though, certainly sounds like it's coming from the right direction.

Ok guys, I finally found it...

It was the piece of trim inside the boot on the drivers side (above the battery) squeaking against the mounts, the top, the bottom, everything...

bloody annoying, but so glad it's gone now.

My squeak has come back though I solved an earlier one... the rubber bump stop on the door frame had worn to the metal and was giving a metal to metal squeak. The rubber is very thin. I swear the squeak comes from the back suspension somewhere, like a linkage that needs a drop of oil.

i too have this annoying squesk coming from what i think is the back left of the car - sounds a bit like rubber on glass, but its not.

i have decided that trying to identify and rectify it is more annoying than the squeak itself.

this thread is like one of those mystery sound competitions that are on the radio every so often!
