Thanks for hosting again Dog Meister... and Deb too! You do need to work on the air-con tho, and its obviously time to get a hoist!
Appreciate the extra hands from Garry and Marty, and of course there was the lovely "SP wanna-be" Agro. Loved that she could't last the afternoon without getting down to Penruff for a shop! :wink:
As for the Brown Davis product... :evil: :evil: :evil:
What an ordinary piece of work. If you are going to make things like this they should be done right, and all you could say is that these are not. Shame really. Still, its in there now, and the car is certainly more rigid than without it.
Best find of the day was the $13.95 right angle drill attachment. Made the task of drilling the holes under the window a piece of cake!

Once again a big thanks to Bigdog and Mrs Bigdog. I had fun again poking around inside, on top of and underneath MX5's.

I think the same guy that designed the roll bar also designed the SP airbox. What a piece of work that is. :evil: We spent a couple of hours on Marty's trying to get it to line up with the engine so the clips would stay done up and didn't really seem to archieve much, though at least now the clips sort of make an almost satisfying click when they do up. Hopefully they'll stay done up now. Did they manage to make the trip home done up Marty?

I'd like to say thank you to Bigdog and Mrs Bigdog for the hospitality and dinner as well. :mrgreen:

It was a good day despite having to modify a few bits for the roll bar installs. And I now think that Bigdogs garage is coated in carbon fibre dust after Garry the Guru modified my airbox so that all the clips do up with a clunk, and stay locked up. Also got rid of the rattle in the exhaust too. :)

There was the bonus of having to go up Old Bathurst Road to get there but got caught behind some slow cars.

Awesome shed too!!!

Glad you ended up getting the bars in OK. Shame about the seat recline though! :x How do you even fit in it now though?! You're called BigDog for a reason...

Can't beleive you have to fabricate the brackets for it to fit. Should bolt straight in from the factory. Oh well, Damian at Mania will have to worry about that one now. 8)

And was that you on Old Windsor Road this morning BigDog? Was a silver NB with chrome mags and a roll bar with a burly bloke waving like there's no tomorrow out the top of the car! :lol:

I'm surprised you could see me with all the reflected light of my bling bar :shock: Yep that was me! Bar makes the car a lot stiffer, but the lack of seat recline sucks, and I need to put some padding up there as it is easy for the bonce to make contact :( and if you move the seat base forward and recline the seat more you can wedge it under the bar :evil: I'm thinking of getting Pimp My Ride to move the firewall and instrument panel forward a few inches - should solve the problem, and a set of 22" Giovani wheels and BF Goodrich tyres will set it all of nicely..... :roll:

I remember seeing something on the old forum about more legrom. Just did a search then and it was Charlie Brown that did a neat little mod that involves cutting the footrest. You might want to give it a go and if you stuff up, it's only a $20 mistake. 8)

Click here for details. Might be worth saving in the Tech Archives section. Would be handy for quite a few people i'de imagine. :)

Interesting - I'll have a look at that. I'm also considering removing some foam from the seat to create a little more room.

We'll do another one STM - probably not for a few weeks though - need to do some family stuff to get the brownie points back up.... :) What are the gearbox issues? I'm not sure we're up to a g'box rebuild - we could sit around, drink some piss and tell you how to fix it though 8) :roll:

Gearbox has developed a winding noise in the last week or so, on deceleration between 2500 & 3000 rpm. Particulary noisy at 2800. I'm hoping its the gearbox as the only other culprit would be the Diff. It can also be heard when changing gears as the engine revs slow down.....so I'm assuming. I have a spare gearbox under the house. Which is in working order. Thats another reason I'm hoping its the gearbox.......

But the gearbox is nothing I'd expect to do at anyone elses place but my own. The Window is the Main Culprit.

What oil do you have in the gearbox Stan? Perhaps stick in Redline and see if it fixes things up. A gearbox/diff oil change would a good one to do at a Dodgy day.
