got some stickers to use but was advised by the maker to clean the car & not have any wax left before sticking them on.
i spose it gives me more time to get my personalised rego plates.
how long does car wax last?

Or if you want to be more friendly to the paint work, wash the car then use a paint cleaner designed for cars (pre-wax cleaner), you can get them from K-mart etc, such as Meguires or Mothers. That would take the wax off.
Are you sure it's wax? not many ppl go to the effort of washing, cleaning, polishing, then waxing their cars. if you only use a wash and polish detergent then there's probably no wax there to begin with.

You don't need to wash the entire car with dishwashing detergent, just the area where the sticker is going.

I'd say wax the car before putting the sticker on, incase you ever want to take the sticker off.

If your car is exposed to the elements your wax will last 6 months max. You will be able to get the sticker off later with a hair dryer or leave you car out on a hot day. But what the sticker might do is proect your paint too well often people remove there gt stripes to find the car is darker underneath thats because the sun hasnt bleached the colour evenly. When you put the stickers on you might want to get the special aplicator they use. It is a hard plastic thing you use it in conjuction with a spray bottle full a water with a drop (and only one) of dishwashing liquid. You spray a light mist on the panel then apply the sticker. The water enables you to move the sticker around for a couple of minutes. Then when its in the right place squeeze the water out. it should take all the air bubbles too. Make sure you put the one drop of dishwashing liquid in the water as this breaks the surrface tension (hope you did physics) of the water failure to do this will make this job 100 times harder (been there done that) You may notice at little water under the sticker dont worry the stickers a pourus and the water will evcapourate through the sticker. Do the job in the shade and then stick it in the sun to bake. Good Luck
