i removed mine to allow a bit more air in. i believe its only there to stop dirt/rain etc from getting into the bay. havn't had issues here with it removed, but i did silicone some electrical plugs in the area to waterproof them.

once the left headlight winked while raining. only the left side & one wink, maybe the car was hitting on some other automobile..

one of mine fell of man and i never fixed it the car is fine that was over two yrs ago haha haha.
