Wot they said... fantastic day, well done to the organisers. I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Loch, but he must have been a helluva guy.

fra, I was behind you, and if that wasn't traction control, what was causing the blue smoke and squeaky noises around your back wheels??? :?: :shock:

There's photos from a couple of folks up on the Yahoo group site already and my camera is chokkas with pics that President Tom took. It'll be well documented!

Woooooooooooooooohhhhhhhh....best run I've ever had since defecting from Mexico!!!

Soooo many cars, such amazing roads, great drivers, awesome organising...
Beef and Guiness pies.....what else could I possibly need.

Could I suggest that we find a way to get ALL the photos and video footage together for general circulation via DVD. I've got a few pics and Vids to throw in.

HOW GOOD WERE THOSE SINGLE LANE MOUNTAIN ROADS!!!!!!!!!!
The best Sunday for a whole year for me.

Luckily I had the pleasure of meeting the man himself some years ago on a run out to one of the Dams south of Ipswich.

two things I remember about that day:

some bloke with his head under the bonnet of a gold NB with some aluminium tubing measuring up for a new air intake.

many members muttering about the speeds that the lead car was doing that day, mutter mutter, new constitution rule etc etc....

He'll be missed but the stories will only get bigger with the telling.

Beth & Jackie awesome run, awesome day, though I think next time there should be a run sheet home too, Dave & I seemed to get more & more hopelessly lost the further we drove, though we did somehow keep finding twisty bits of bitumen.
Went for a drive and there were slow cars everywhere, why are NC's so common . . . must be NC = Normally Cardiganed.

Yes, thanks to all who showed up. The official (read: we think) count is 56 cars, all MX5s except for 1 VW, 3 Hondas, 1 Elise and 1 BMW. It was great to catch up with a lot of "the old crew", and I am sure Cleone enjoyed the day.

The roads, what can I say? We (Jeff, Beth, Jackie and I) must have done 1000kms trying all sorts of different roads. Thankfully, Jeff's generosity meant that is was the R32 running round the countryside, down countless magic roads that invariably turned to dirt where we would say "maybe it goes for a km only" over and over till we turned around.

The Bellthorpe bit, we were in the last few cars and so had a clear run at it as we were 5kms behind the pack. It was fun to catch up to the pack at the top of the range, just as we passed the 5 NA 1600s that had got a bit hot.

And for the run sheet home, sorry but we have never gone back the same way twice!

Would loved to have been there as would some of the other guys up at QR for round one of the Top Gear MX5 series. A few words were said about it in the morning. I'm sure Gary would loved to have been there, but with his commitments to the racing fraternity, I'm sure everyone understands. Dad went and had a great day.
