What product to clean and maintain NC soft top?

Postby wicked » Fri Feb 10, 2006 8:10 pm

Hi all first time user but I need some advice please. I just recently brought a new NC MX5 and I'm wanting to know how I should maintain and clean my soft top? I've purchased Meguiars products for the paint but I'm stumped with the Soft top which is a kind of material.
Any advice appreciated.

regards

Be very careful what you put on it. The NC soft-top material should be UV resistant and remain weather resistant for many years, without using any special products. Whether cloth or vinyl, I'm a believer in just washing the soft-top with your usual quality car shampoo and rinsing off.
Your NC owners manual should instruct you on how to care for your soft-top.

Good luck & enjoy the new NC :D

& that's exactly what it says too col :D

it also suggests that to keep the paintwork in pristine condition you should polish your car every 6 months if it's left out in the elements & every 12 months if kept under cover, OR not at all if you have paint protection..........bet not too many ppl will agree with that one.........i do....but hey, we're all different

Many thanks, I'll wash it with Gold Class Meguiars car wash and shampoo that shouldn't be too harsh.

Cheers

The NC is a joy to drive hoping to take it along the GOR this Autumn

If the fabric does get some dirty spots on it, don't be afraid to use your favourite shampoo on it and a soft nail brush to get out the offending marks.

What do you do if, like me, you don't have hair anymore and no need to use shampoo so don't have any

I know how you fell there Gramps.
One of my nephews gave me a comb for Xmas, and I said to him that I'll never part with it.
