Postby bpt4w » Mon Feb 13, 2006 9:56 pm

k im up for some new tyres as well but im going for 615's i have been quoted 170 per but he was looking at a old book so i might go back and find the price changed. so as you all get round a bit from store to store ask up about em and we will get a database of who has the best prices for what.

I have to correct you, they are Falken Azenis.

I found the new 615's were more expensive then the 215's so don't take those prices as gospel. I paid $195 for 195/60/14.

k went back to the guy and had to argue with him that 615's were the new version of the 215's took me 10 min to convince him they didnt exist anymore so he phones up hes supplier and quotes me 270 per but i did some other guys on the way to him .

$210 fitted mathews tyres service penrith 02 47223655
$216 fitted jax tyres penrith 02 47313277
$225 fitted penrith tyres 02 47336633
$210 fitted tempe tyres 02 95731010

$203 not fitted bulk order (20) penrith tyres

mathews said 210 straight off were as the rest required a bit of poking with a stick to get better prices.

oh yeah these quotes were for 205/50/15

Try Gordon Levin tyres at Penrith. When I got a set from there they beat the comptetion by $20 for the set. Not much but worth giving them a call.

Caffeine has also used them. Not sure if they do Falkens but it's worth a shot :)

JDM Yard has Toyo T1R's for ~$150 each. $200+ for Falken's is crazy. There not that good, they just look sexy.

the toyo T1R is good but 615 is a semi slick not really a road tyre since they have a 200 wear rate were as the toyo T1R is more like 380 and last about 30 - 40 thou if anything the toyo 888 would be about the same area as the 615

Falken 615 I believe is a fantastic street tyre. The RT 615 is no good if you are going to do 30k km in city traffic anually. You're better off with something else.
But this isn't a thread about which tyre is better. If somone wants to have the RT615.....I'll now know where to get it.

I agree with Stan that 615's are a fantastic street tyre.

However, 615's are not in the same league as Toyo R888's at all. 615's (200 treadwear) are in the league of T1R's (280 treadwear), both of which are street tyres not track tyres like R888's (100 treadwear).

Both T1R's and 615's overheat at the track. 615's turn into slippery mush and T1R's are marginally better. The advantage with T1R's is weight. They're ~4lbs lighter (205/50/15) then the 615's and according to this thread $60 less money.

hmm the man drives a hard bargain :) , just drove over to tempe tyres and got a quote for 15 inch starcorp (yes like mx5 mania have) with 205/50/15 azenis 615's on em $1400 all up fitted not to bad.

just a side note how hard do you have to drive a car to get 615's to melt i never got to that point with the 215's ever though 7 lap dashs don't really count i guess.
