True, but would still take twice as long to remove/install. Then you've got the problem of mating the camera shroud with such a thin beam. I'm sure you could make it work though. Thanks for the thoughts though.
Whilst not strictly in accordance with CAMS guidelines, would you consider it a permissable alternative cradle design?

okaaaay - that puts me on the spot without having had the opportunity to poke at it - for club level most probably yes. for racing events I would like to see at least the bracket underneath it fixed to the bulkhead - remember that if its not fixed it could bend outwards in a collision - i would be lotsss happeir if it was fixed at 2 points with substantial mounts - hence my suggestion of double sided mounting...
If i was going to make it I would use the box section thing and bolt it to the seat mounts and bolt a plate with box to the middle of the box tube.
How much flex is in your bracket? So many questions *sigh*

Yes but I figured that surely the seat would prevent it coming near driver/passenger.
How much flex is in your bracket?
A fair bit if unsupported at the camera end, given it is only clamped in place by the single seat belt bolt and washers, but when wedged by the foam (at the moment), it is quite firm.
