Transporting Wheels & Tyres

Has anybody couriered wheels and tyres interstate? Which company or is parcel post OK? There is lots of stuff on eBay but its always in Sydney or Melbourne.

My mate used these guys to ship wheels with tyres from Sydney to Melboure. Cost $150-$200 from memory.

Pack & Send have been hideously expensive both times I've enquired and I had to deliver them to their depot and the recipient had to collect them from the receiving depot too!

Try ANC . AJ couriers for them up here and they did a perfect job getting my wheels and tyres from Craig's place to my place. Check about the economy or off peak rates too. Pack and Send were over the top on price i.e. about 3 x ANC price.

ease up on TNT Okibi, JBT's wheels were picked up by ANC sydney, dropped off at TNT for transport to Brisbane, then picked up by me to deliver to JBT, i happen to work out of one of TNT's depots here in Brisbane full time.........& strangely enuff a lot of senders & recievers find it terribly easy to blame the transport company when bugger ups occur..........now, i've kept quiet about this for a while now, because board rules state we must not defame companies, but i WILL say that in the depot i work out of, a certain spare parts supplier of sportscar parts has a sizeable section in one of the "hold till verified" areas of the depot...........usually "hold till verified" means it has been addressed wrongly at the pickup end.........do TNT make stuffups????..........most certainly they do, it's human nature.......are they to blame for every muckup???....most certainly not..........the halo on a lot of suppliers slips occasionally too........but hey, lets blame transport, gets the buggers off our back

If you chat to Simone at MX-5 Mania, or our club members who've had over $4k of items lost / stolen or damaged within the last 3 months you'll see why they're upset.

I understand it's a HUGE organization and it only takes a couple of bad apples to spoil the barrel.

Unfortunately the feedback I have received from Simone is that the courier company hasn't been willing to help track down the missing items at all.

I know this is only a tiny portion of goods transferred by such a massive organization, but for a small business like Mania to try and cover such a loss without any recourse or compensation can be devastating.

i would reckon that if insurance is paid on transport, that they would be covered against loss/damage........unfortunately a lot of ppl see this as an uneccessary cost, i know that if anything is damaged in my truck enroute, it's covered by transit insurance...................the worst part of it is, usually ppl want to pay next to nothing to transport stuff, go the cheapest option, don't pay the added premium to insure their goods, & get caught out..........

unfortunately sometimes things happen like that (the engine off a forklift).....with humans involved as you know Okibi, ANYthing is possible

You could try a PM to Alf - He shipped two of my wheels to Melbourne with no hassles and was happy with the price. Don't use Pack & Send - they are seriouisly expensive! My wife sent a small fragile parcel to Canada last year - cost well over $250! Fedex or UPS would have been around $40 for exact same service with insurance

Have a friend (who may even lurk on this forum as he recently bought a 5) who shipped in a hideously expensive one-off CNC lathe from Japan. From memory took two years from order to delivery. Japanese engineers arrived at factory together with the CEO of the supplying company to watch the machine being unloaded and do the local install. You can see what's coming - monster forklift used to unload from truck couldn't cope with the weight - dropped it and destroyed it in front of horrified onlookers New machine arrived many months later - at Japan's expense as he hadn't taken delivery!

I'm surprised that Simone hasn't spoken to her insurance broker about a Marine Insurance policy.
This covers anything either en-route to you or one of your customers, so it covers anything in transit.
Cost is very reasonable and the coverage can even be extended to goods coming in from overseas.
I wouldn't dream of not having such a policy in my business.
The best part about having a policy like this, is because everything you send or receive is insured, it never goes missing or gets damaged!
It's a bit like why do you spill stuff on your white shirst, but not your black shirts?
