Sticker/badge for SP Gear Knob

Postby bigdog » Tue Jan 03, 2006 8:43 pm

I seem to have lost (courtesy of a hand car wash place - I think they vacuumed it with the Spaceball Vacuusucker  ) the little 6 speed plastic insert on the top of my SP gear knob, and Dave has the same problem with his. Does anyone know if these are available as a spare part (without the attached $220 alloy knob that is) or if there is some way to obtain a replacement? My only thought is to cut an appropriate sized alloy disc and take it to an engraver - would not be an easy thing to engrave though. Any suggestions?

No, but when you come up with one, there's at least three of us in the market - they can't be stuck on very well!! :)

Looks like I'll have to make my own then - maybe use the mazda seagull in drain pipe logo instead of the gear shift pattern? (we all know where they are, and if you don't why are you driving?!). Anyone else need one? Once I know how many I'll do some investigating re cost & design.

Bigdog - mine is still there, but its beginning to get a little discoloured and starting to craze. I would be interested to see what you come up with.

... thank goodness Spyder is on holidays!
Garry, the sticker/ button fell off mine (and was subsequently lost in the wash when I left it in the shirt pocket- D'OH!) while I was linishing the marks off it with a cloth wheel and appropirate soap. They do come up with a nice lustre when this is done, although it does take a bit of work. Not a "standard" look, however it is way better than all of the scratches!

Regards,
Dave
