Hi all,
I'm Geoff. The nickname is a long story, but it originated from grogen, meaning "small turd." It moulded into many different things, and became bogen after the song "no body likes a bogan." (I have a charming family don't i?) Then the beer came.... bogen ---> Boags.....
Thinking of personal plates 80GEN
hmmm...... Seeya.

I originally used my real name (Troy) when Matty first started the forum and Ted and I were about the only other members around. Time passed between logins and some how my old user name disappeared - I also found everything had changed and the forum had grown beyond my wildest expectations. I created a new forum name using my (then) current location - Casey Station.

When abouts? We had a nasty chopper crash on the Polar Bird during my last couple of months on station (late 2000 early 2001). The pilot's name was John IIRC - but I don't think he was from WA?
Have some spectacular video footage from all angles (well if you crash in front of a hoard of Antarctic expeditioners, what else would you expect?)of bits of Squirrel flying off in all directions as the heli did a dynamic roll into the deck (got a skid caught on a barge).
It was a very worring time as I was manning the comms back at base listening to the catastrophie over the radio. The second heli had a very long, lonely flight home (about 150nm IIRC) and if the ice breaker had gone up with all the ATK spilt everywhere we had no means of launching a rescue. As this was also to be our ride home we could have been trapped on station for longer then expected.
There are a few shots of the SP and some Antarctic pictures on my Cardomain site below.

The nick is because I'm a country member. Oh, you remember!!
