Can someone clue me up as to how to remove the centre console on my wifes NA.
I just replaced it with the correct DIN sized mount, and I noticed that it had been removed previously by someone (probably JB HiFi's audio installer) tearing it off, and breaking the retainer bracket located behind the top vents.
I noticed, when I replaced it and cleaned it, I had to fit the centre console fascia, mius the air vents, screw it in place, then push the vents back into the holes.
Subsequent removal, would suggest I need to remove air vents first to get to these top retainer screws.
I can't seem to get a grip on these vents to pull them out without damaging anything else again.
Am I doing anything wrong here ?
Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated.

I just use two screwdrivers. Poke them thru the slats of the vent at an opposing 45 degree angle...and PULL!

Correct. The vents are retained by metal "W" spring clips at 3:00 and 9:00 o'clock as shown in this fairly dark photo of the rear of the facia and vent:
I made a tool out of coat hanger wire bent to the general shape below so that it grips the rear of the vent and allows you to pull the vent out by pulling in the direction of the red arrow.
