Shock or not?

Need advise on what to upgrade first on my '95 NA. My car is absolutely stock at the moment but not happy with the look of the big gaps in my wheelarches hence i want to get my car lowered. I guess lowering about 2 inches would be about right?
I was hoping i could achieve this with King or Eibach springs on my stock shocks? I was hoping not to have to get Koni's as well unless i absolutely must.
Has anyone got Kings/Eibachs on their stock shocks?

Don't go more than 1 inch or you'll bottom out over stuff, and just do the shocks as well, you wont believe the difference, considering your stockies are 10 years old and well shagged. Heard the Eibachs are much easier to live with. not as harsh as the Kings.

Thanks Craig. What set up did you have on your previous car? It's the height i want my car as well.
Those NA8B auto wheels would have looked on my car good too.....

Kings and Konis, but I'd like to have tried the Eibachs and KYB AGX's on her. JBT is showing them off now on his beastie, but he had a cheap courier... i.e. AJ! :)

Hope ya didn't pay too much for them JBT, someone's gotta pay for Craig's new car..... :lol:

BTW Craig, was your blue car only lowered only by an inch? It looked much lower than standard height. I wouldn't have thought an inch would make that much difference.

It was lowered more than an inch but he also changed his shocks as well. If you lower your car too much, your standard shocks will sh!t themselves. Seeing as they're 10 years old, i's be inclined to change them anyway. Doesn't cost any more in labour but will allow you to go lower and also improve the handling.

Trust me I am paying for it...will own it in well under a year though! 8)

It does but the springs sag over time to it can turn into more over time, bit like the wife bits! :lol:

Wayne, do your self a favour and go visit Les at Wheelspin, he's got GREAT club discounts on King Springs, and on a Koni King Combo, you can't loose either way. :D

Or just get him to order in some Tein Flex :twisted:
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Yes i've talked to Les already, and he recommends the Koni/Eibach combo which are easier to live with for daily driving.
I've been told i will need a wheel alignment after the shock upgrade, any idea who i should go see for this?
Okibi, which Kumho tyres are you using at the moment?

My car is a daily driver and I have th Koni shock/Eibach spring combo and am VERY happy with it. You can still feel the bumps but it's not harsh at all. Body roll is almost non-existent and response through the steering wheel has improved. It is an excellent compromise.

Go see John at "Wheels World" in Ozzie Park, tell him you're an MX-5 Club of WA member.

John and Bob are very professional and have set up a LOT of MX-5s.

I use Toyo T1-Rs. :mrgreen:
