The rubber groove for the window

Hey guys,

The rubber groove that the window slides up and down against on the drivers door has been pushed up by the window so that an excess of rubber is at the top of the quarter window, where it meets the windshield pillars when the door is closed.

I'm tempted to simply cut back the excess and heat seal the ends so that it is flush again.

Do I have any other options?

Andrews right you paid enough for it make him get you a new one. Remember he is so rich he can afford a titanium. Just go buy a new one from Mazda it probably dosen't cost heaps

Hey guys,

First time taking her apart.

Jeez Craig, how many freaking dirt roads did you travel in her?

Did as Bevan suggested, had fun taking the window out, fairly logical and intuitive process. The rubber groove was then able to pulled down with a mild amount of effort, and now things are looking flush again.

Time to go and have a shot at the aerial now :D

Dont mention the punt run! I'm still cleaning the dust out from the inside of my car 2 years after the event. :evil:

Hey guys,

The fix was temporary, the groove has risen back up again.

So will be making the same adjustments again tomorrow night, when I am doing the centre dash replacement.

What kind of lube can I use inside the groove to assist with the windows going up without catching? I am concerned that some lubes will eat into the rubber.

Now this is going to provoke a response, but I'll ask anyways...

Will KY do the job effectively or should I use something else?

I just use a bit of baby powder, doesn't leave marks on the window and stops the felt from gooping up. :)
