So I was reading that the MX5 is the new 1934 Ford there are that many engine swap options.
Here are some of the known ones, lets finish the list, will need to get a mod to edit this first post and make it sticky.
http://www.drivermod.ca/articles-1/2016/3/29/miata-engine-swaps Very Big List many silly ones listed.
If we could get a RHD Right Hand Drive Centric discussion going here, that will be helpful.

Won't this list be model dependent, ie NA, NB, NC, ND ?
I suspect you are focused on the NA and NB models.

You could almost assume everything has been tried!
The two copy Bullets had a 20B and a 2JZ fitted (but they were ICVs).
I've seen a photo in a jap magazine of a GTR RB26DETT fitted (a very tight squeeze).

I guess it also depends on how much MX5 needs to be left to classify it as an "mx5"
ie: would a full tube frame chassis with an MX5 body on top be an "mx5"?
would an exocet be an MX5?
would an NA chassis with custom subframes at each end be an MX5?

Good Point on the Chassis Variations, this is rapidly becoming a Spreadsheet will make one at the end of thread and link to that.
NA - RHD
NA - LHD
NB - RHD
NB - LHD
NC - RHD
NC - LHD
ND - RHD
ND - LHD
Space Frame Derivations, also Included but they are able to make structural changes and have
no power/displacement to weight limitations.
I guess the other points are
Wet Sump/Dry Sump ?
Power Steering Delete Needed (Yes/No)
Mazda OEM Gearbox Retained (Yes/No)

Having been for a ride in a NB fitted with a worked LS3 the MX5 chassis does the job very well.

Personally I like the idea of throwing a mzfe series out of a camry into a NB. you can get 3-4 liters(depending on var), all alloy toyota stoutness. it would fit pretty easy(LOL), all the tough parts regarding going from transverse to north south have been sorted by people putting them into ae86's. All kind of pointless though, you can enough power out of BP, unless your drag racing in which case your just going to throw some flavor of small block in it anyway.
