Hi guys,
Looking in to the option of doing an LS1 conversion to my miata. Just want to see if i can find someone in Australia who has done the LS1 conversion to find out where they sourced their parts from, costings, etc etc.
Im aware you can buy kits from the states but just want to see my options.
If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Greg

You're aware it won't be registerable? I think there's one or two track only LS V8s around Australia

Awesome, more than I would have thought. Hopefully they can help him out.
I wish they were Street legal here, not that I could afford to do it

Or move to Merica.

https://infrastructure.gov.au/roads/veh ... 011_v3.pdfPage 11. The LS motor is outside the maximum recommended engine size for an MX5. You'd be very lucky to find an engineer who will go outside the ADR guidelines.
If you got it road registered you'd be the first in Australia.

Thanks for pointing that out much appreciated, smy003, defiantly something to keep in mind.
Still I would be interested to talk to someone who has done the conversion if anyone can point me in the right direction in regards to sourcing parts.
Thanks guys

Buy my Honda 3.2l V6 conversion. Will be legal, and much, much cheaper.

The bullet roadster is 40+ grand for a reason. I respect those that have built a ls1 mx5 but I could never justify the cost and weight up front.

Agree with the earlier comments. Its folly for anyone who does not have deep pockets to undertake such a job and as others have said maybe not registrable.Unless one has impeccable contacts a project might drag on for years and budget just expands. No one is likely to give free detailed advice on how to go about such a project. A month ago there was a Bullet for sale and in the showroom of the Healey Factory- worth checking if its still there.

If you want it to be registerable, it's been done in Vic a few years ago, but had to be engineered as an ICV. Specifically John Pitt of Wheelers Hill (Vic) built, engineered & registered a couple of MX5 V8s in Vic:
