Postby Old Grey » Tue Oct 20, 2015 6:44 pm

Does the MX-6 2.5 V6 bolt up to the MX-5 gearbox?

Also, try googling "Kliata" - there are a few of these around the world.

After reading that post it's turned me off the idea.

You can buy whole running MX-6's for $700, so it seamed like it would be a cheap option, and sure I can do all of the work, but it's just too expensive and too much work for such a small gain. Even if you built a full race 2.5 V6 it's only going to have 250rwhp, which any 4 cyl turbo can do with a lot less work - it's explains why that guy put a SR20 in his MX5 for racing -.

The guy was learning while he was building it, so had to duplicate work, but even that aside it's a tight fit with compromises.

He could have done things differently, but it would have been more expensive.

Since the Gbox got cut he could have just cut the flange off and welded in a new flange with the correct bolt patten and saved the adaptor, or used a Gbox with a removable bellhousing and fabricated a new one, but really the Gbox was the least of his problems.
