Re: Robbo's Clubbie Racer
The guards have been adjusted down since that shot didn’t make much difference - it’s out of steam at around 190kmh. It’s a 1965 car built by the late Paul Trevethan from Melbourne. It runs a 1098cc Anglia 109E motor and four speed box. I restored it in 1985, then raced it a lot, and am currently re-restoring it. It’s a lovely little thing. The roll bar is pretty much cosmetic - there’s not a lot of structure in these cars

Bigdog be great if you joined the Clubbie series and raced. Hmm,,, but you may not want to wheel to wheel race a lovely car like that.
190Km/h from that donk, impressive.

Re: Robbo's Clubbie Racer
My racing days are past now, and in company with modern clubbies I wouldn’t see which way they went
I did one of the Tri Star Series races at Oran Park in the 80s against the PRBs - they lapped mine in 5 laps!

I raced a Westfield in the UK kit car championship for ten years and built two of them and spend loads of time around the Locost guys. Absolutely love Clubmans and enjoying this thread as I've still got half an eye on building one out here but whilst I'd be doing plenty of Sprints and Hillclimbs my door to door days in something like a Clubman are over, nothing really comes close as far as fun and feel are concerned.

Believe it or not I have never dríven one. I just wanted to build a race car. Was keen on building a 2lt sports sedan but the price would have been up there, to be competitive anyway. I did build an Alfetta sports sedan years ago did some hill climbs then kids and new house spoiled that.So about 25 years later I'm in a position to build a Clubman.
I've been to the track and got around some of the Clubbie Series guys. Really looking forward to driving the ass off this thing.
Custardtart, sounds like you have plenty of experience with racing and building. The Clubbies are big in the UK. Plenty of youtube stuff, those Locost guys don't hold back

Re: Robbo's Clubbie Racer
Had it's first run last week at a test & tune day at SMSP GP circuit. After ironing out some initial handling issues it felt good.
Diff ratio needs changing running out of puff down the straight too early. Hitting 7500 Rev limiter around start line, so not ideal.
No speedo or GPS - 540mm dia tyres, 4.44 diff, .814 5th at 7500 rpm that's around 210 Km/h
First Race this Saturday at SMSP, so bit excited

Looks good. What class are you running on Saturday?
Will have to have a look in your pit in person.

Will do, I think the MX5 cup is only 10 entries this round.

yeah really good day, car performed well. qualified 9th from 15 finished 7th in the first race. Ran mid field all day, with some great tussles. Got into the high 1.12 minutes on the North track.
Only issue all day, last race ran out of electrical power, car stopped 12 minutes in. Two spades into the alternator connector were not clicked in, no charge.
Can't wait till the next round.
most fun I've have ever had sitting down
Race two- I pass Bill at 10:10. then one of the cars dump gearbox oil on the track and I slow, Bill gets me on the last corner 14:40.
