Some might know me from the track or the QLD MX5 Club end of year presentations as the guy who cleans up in the race car category. However you do, or don't, you may have notice the lack of presence by myself this year around the traps. There is a valid reason for this. At the end of 2014 it was established that I could not beat the time I set earlier in the year with the car in its current state so I sought after a solution to a question I kept asking about how to make my MX5 unique a one of a kind vehicle. As I fell down the rabbit hole I discovered the exocet. Long story short paid deposit, waited a year, collected frame and 4 weeks ago officially started the build. This frame is the first engineered and constructed in Australia so in a way mine is the prototype of the new frames. As it was, I promised myself I would do a full tear down and rebuild excluding engine as I just could not deal with that kind of pressure. Anyway in short, body was removed, power plant frame was torn down, cross members powder coated, replaced all bushes and ball joints and reconstructed. In total not including stripping of body and removal I've spent 39 hours to this stage. 61 hours left to finish within the suggested time of construction for a novice.
