Re: ECU location SP
I don't think so. Maybe the SP was different to the NB8B, but in the NB8B it is an aluminium box, under an aluminium cover, on the firewall under the carpet almost at floor level. If the passenger rests their feet against the sloped 'firewall', they will be resting on the ECU cover.
To get to the ECU, lift the carpet, which gives access to the cover - this has to be removed to access the ECU.
I think you are looking up behind the glovebox, that is the HVAC stuff.
Again, I stand to be corrected if the SP ECU was relocated from the standard NB8B configuration.

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

Re: ECU location SP
I think Dann misread the question. The SP ECU is in the OEM location location as described above. I'm pretty sure all the covers are steel- they are far too heavy to be aluminium.

Re: ECU location SP
I figured the plastic bit was simply mistaken.
Its a grey box in the passenger footwell for sure.

I can vouch for that, wear gloves. Then once you have it out remove the burs with a file.
