Hi members
If you have done the t piece mod check your boost via a boost gauge.
Mine was spiking to 15psi sitting around 10psi.
Went back to original set up, no spiking maximum boost is 8psi.

The stock setup has the wastegate reference boost just after the compressor, the T-piece mod has you reference boost just before the throttle so the drop in pressure caused by the intercooler is no longer there.

15 year old car with multiple owners, & probably multiple workshops, so it's possible minor changes have been made that haven't been communicated or have been long forgotten.

Wow, something else is going on surely !
Back when they were new, some owners had their original short hose between the turbo and actuator melt causing the actuator to do nothing and a corresponding boost frenzy. These served as a warning to the rest of us ! Is the hose used in the mod clear and referencing manifold correctly ? Could also be the actuator, but I assumed you returned to stock and its functioning fine ?

If your still running the plastic BOV. Check that out as well as you need to treat them as a consumable service item.
When they get a bit of wear on them the diaphragm inside can get a little notchy.

Cheers Tezza. I have two BOV. One stock and the other off a Porsche. I might upgrade to a metal one

Hi Daz long time no online chats...
Bosch BOV Bosch BOV 0280142103 2301020740 is the one you want.
Danny and boys at Automotive + got my last one for me but that was a ages ago....
Tried the $2 mod and hated it, Tried the turbosmart bov , spring that came with was too soft (flutter drove me crazy).
Went back to the plastic bosch and happy enough with it for the sort of driving that i do.

Yeah I dont get on here much, check in from time to time !
I have one of those turbosmart BOV's in a box somewhere, never fitted. The car seems fine to me, but I dont drive it much. I remember people saying they smoothed the part throttle jerk a little by replacing the BOV but I never thought it was that bad in mine... they all seemed to be just a little different !

Just an update guys was at mechanics today. My boost gauge should have been connected at throttle body not manifold. Put T piece back in and full boost is 7-8psi. No spiking.
