I noticed today oil on my Turbo Return hose. I read someone said weeping is a problem. Should I replace hose or is this a common issue. I have not seen oil dripping it just has oil on hose.
Also tried to remove oil filter could not move it to get it off. It's in the worst spot ever. How do you remove it.

Oil filter can be accessed by laying on your back with the drivers wheel off, reaching up in to the wheel well.
Hopefully someone more knowledgable than me can give you the ID of the SP oil return hose.

That's why people relocate there filters.
I just remove the manifold brace and get to the filter from under the car.

I'm sure they are easier to get at on LHD cars too.

having the same problem on my sp! anyone figured a remedy?

I was thinking of replacing with a braided SS line rather than replace with another rubber hose which would probably and eventually start weeping again but not too sure how straight forward it is with the current fixings.

My mechanic made up a hose with an elbow piece in it. The issue is the hose kinks and goes hard and brittle. Well mine did anyway. Garret Turbo can make us a line for you like the factory one. Happy with what my mechanic did.

surely there is some of the shelf solution for a replacement hose? someone must know?

Mine has a fabricated hard line using an EGR pipe and mount bolted to the sump with a gasket. This has been foolproof for the past 100,000km. The weakest point on the stock setup is the barb threaded into the sump. The sump wall is thin, so there are only a couple of threads for the barb to seat on, and they invariably leak. Hardened and kinked rubber hoses are the next problem. Cheapest answer is to replace the hardened hose every 50,000km or so, otherwise a hitemp braided hose might help, but it would need to be clamped at both ends, which tends to be a problem with braided hose.

I use a tapered brass threaded fitting into the sump with a quality industrial pipe thread sealant which is a high strength threadlock.

As for the hose I use a regular '100 series' rubber hose from aeroflow/raceworks/speedflow etc. This is not to be confused with heater hose, its oil and pressure rated.

And on top of that I use a fibreglass heat sleeve. They last a very long time like this including with track use.

Braided hoses are just the same hose with fancy fittings and a steel wrap, they are still heat and kink affected like any other rubber hose.

Going to try and rip it out later on this week had a quick tug at it before seems to be stuck onto the fixture to the sump. Is it just the hose clamps holding it in place?

Will take to my local hose specialist and see what they can do from them

So the hose was so buggered and brittle i had to cut it to getit off, went down to the local hose specialist/ hydraulics shop and they sorted me with some high temp hose suitable for oil.

Doing well so far and probably ur best bet for anyone else with this issue as oem replacement hose is not available.

It's good to have this type of issue sorted before you rock up for a day at the track. You probable don't want to know how I know.
