Hi
I am contemplating buying an SE, stock.
What is the least expensive way of livening it up a bit. And in what order do I do the mods
I appreciate the benefits of a CAI, thinking of a BEGI unit
Is going to a 2.5 inch cat back exhaust worth the cost.
The std boost control, do I remove it
I know these questions have been asked before, is there a thread that cover the SE.
Any ,polite  ,advice would be welcome.
Cheers
Steven

Pass the popcorn, Dann.
This question gets asked fairly regularly and is quite divisive.
Some are happy with simple bolt ons whilst others aren't happy without complete standalone ecu and custom turbo set-up.

Have a read of Lokiels build thread as well as ManiacLachy's. You can follow their trip down the rabbit hole of SE nodding and see what kind of things can be done.

But it depends what exactly you mean by:

And whether that's all you ever want out of it.

if I was going to do some cheap mods to an SE and get good results this is what i'd do.

1. begi cai I actually bought the very first unit off the usa supplier 6 years ago and at that time they weren't even sure if it would fit the rhd car. I've found it good BUT I found the AEM CAI produced more power but suffered idle issues. plus you can also get nitro dann to custom build you one.

2. get rid of the rubber elbow to the throttle body. it will blow off as the power increase. begi one is pretty good too.

3. might as well go ebay intercooler. pretty cheap and works fine and I never had a problem with mine.......although come to think of it I did experience heat soak on my first NT trip near the east alligator river but temps were 35c daily

4. throw a chiptorgue chip in it for $800 I drove with one for 5 or more years and it will deliver and get you up to 190 rwhp

after that you will be happy for a while but eventually want more power so start saving your $$$ and then its off to nitro dann for a complete power hit  or in search of the magic 400 rwhp

plus I forget to mention two other things. good downpipe helps but the number one would be

a smart person would never touch his stock standard SE BUT there's not many of those on this forum  once you do $$$$$ will fly out in all directions

billybunter summed it up well.

The stock SE is very placid, those mods will make it a much more fun car.

If you want big power then you'll do most of the same things you'd end up doing to a stock late model NB (apart from upgrading the diff).
