SE engine light mystery

Hi all, my first post just wondering if anyone has any ideas about my SE.
Have an engine light issue. I'll do my best to explain......
Under load after about 5k revs sometimes the engine would miss and the engine light would come on.

Then after I turned off the car say overnight the light would go out.

So I put new NGK plugs, leads and coils.

Started it no light on all good.

Next day took for a drive and light stays on. And it's still on.

Good news is it's running alot better no missing under load.

Mods are CAI, Exhaust, intercooler, bov.

170km's on the clock.

Checked under the hood nothing seems obvious.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

You need to check the code thrown to learn more. You'll need an ODB2 reader of some description, you can get bluetooth ones fairly cheaply that work with an app on your phone, or take it to a dealer/mechanic.

Like Lachy said, this can't be solved over the net. It's not something obvious. Needs someone to look at it.

Check levels of oils & fluids to eliminate the obvious. Also check for loose or faulty fuel cap, which can cause engine check light to come on.
But as already indicated above, the fault code/s stored in the ECU need to be identified. Depending on your expertise, you may want to leave this to a mechanic with the required equipment. If you want to have a go, disconnect the battery (& pump the brake pedal a few times) to clear all stored code/s, as some may no longer be relevant. Then try to replicate engine check light conditions, & check ECU for code/s with a OBDII code reader, & compare code/s against the NB8 SE code list.

SE on factory ECU with CAI and Exhaust at 5000rpm?
My guess would be boost cut. Have you upped the boost and do you have a boost gauge?

$20 ebay scanner will tell you everything.

Thanks for the advice. Any ideas where the obd2 is? This doesn't look like 1. Image

OBD port is above your right knee in the cabin in front of the fuses.
