Upping the power on an SE Turbo -Advise please.

Just wondering what type of engine mods I could do to my SE for say $3 to $4k that would give it a bit more get up and go. I will list what it has done to date and any help to increase the power output will be appreciated.

1. Chip-torque chip
2. Begi down pipe.
3. Begi cold air intake
4. Larger ebay intercooler.
5. Manual boost control
6. Turbosmart BOV
7. Rubber elbows replaced by the Begi steel jobs

Still running standard exhaust from down pipe on.

Answers are, as you no doubt know, all over this forum.

The single answer is probably NitroDann.

Haltech and a good tune will change your life. Won't get any change from 3K. PS1000 you can get for around a grand now or a bit more for an Elite 1500.
After that look at exhaust, new manifold and a 2560 or bigger and say hello to 200rwkw and spinning wheels in third :D :D

Best to give Dann a call first. He might have a better option.

Richard.

Thanks to both replies and 200 RWHP sounds pretty good to me. Any ideas on what a 0-100kph burst would be on that output. I'd say my motor is pretty sound and in good order with only 70,000 klm on the clock.
It has seen the redline in the Top end of OZ but only in top gear but I rarely get up it in the lower gears. That might change shortly

Between 5 and 6 seconds, not that 0-100 times are all that important.

The correct ECU and the correct tune are what are important to overall driveability. The factory ECU can't give you that. They are both also important to ensuring your con rods stay straight, since you haven't mentioned opening the motor to build a stronger bottom end.

Think is a bit more than 200bhp atw though?

And did you have a little incident with rods which billybunter might want to know about?

Once upon a time  it took a very good car to go from 0 to 100 kph in the 5 to 6 second bracket. This idea interests me and I have no plans to sell the SE as I still think its the best car I've drĂven or owned over the years and I've had a fair few of them :)
Plan to contact NitroDann and discuss the matter...sounds exciting! Again thanks for the feedback and I appreciate the quick response to all who chipped in.

NitroDann has a great rep on here.

Even if you find other suppliers than NitroDann, try to keep with just the one supplier to do everything so that one shop takes full responsibility for how each modification interacts with the others.

Bear in mind that if you have a quick turbo MX-5 you will be sorely tempted to take it on the track. There are then other things to do, like cooling, and brakes, and ........

Have to agree with Dann here, these seem to be the only things you are missing apart from the exhaust from the DP back.......

What's a mac valve?

It replaces the factory boost control solenoid when you change to an aftermarket ECU.

It's just the industry name for a 3 port boost control solenoid, because the company that produces by far the most popular one is called 'MAC'.

No incident with Rod's, prior to my car going to Dann it was running at 220rwhp, when Dann pulled the engine open one of the Rod's was bent. He mentioned that this is a common thing on SE's that have more power. Hadn't effected the performance of the engine and there was no loss of compression on that cylinder. This could effect anyone that ups the power on their SE with any of the standard mods that we do.
