SP exhaust down pipe upgrade or swap for high flow cat?

I want to hear from SP owners here if they changed their stock SMB exhaust during power modification?

I rang up SMB. They said they designed the factory exhaust same way as they would do aftermarket. The only exception is the CAT which is factory standard CAT. i.e. ceramic and standard flow for better emission.

My question is do SP owners "upgrade" this down pipe for better flow or leave it stock? SMB told me they can sell me a a SP down pipe with high flow CAT, but I have been considering simply to cut off the old CAT and weld in a new CAT for the same result and less money.

What is your thought?

Dann built me a cracker of a full exhaust from my SP dump back.
He also make a upgraded split gases replacement dump which looks really good but I haven't tried it…….Yet.
I do like the standard SP dump because its cast and will never break or crack (Hopefully).
Will separated gases make the turbo spool faster? Probably yes. Will a spaz like me ever notice it. Probably No.

Well worth a call to Dann though. He is always willing to help.

Richard.

Thank you Richard.
I saw Dan's thread and it is nice.

Probably something I will do in future.
For now, I like to keep my stock SMB and add a bit of flow cheaply.

Have you got a photo of the stock CAT section taken off, can you comment if that CAT can be replaced with an aftermarket 2.5" Magnaflow?
